Since its launch in 2017, the Legacy Award has aimed to shine a light on young changemakers from across the globe, recognising individuals who are driving positive change in their communities and beyond.
Through this prestigious accolade, we not only celebrate their remarkable achievements but also provide a platform for them to amplify their voices, deepen their impact, and grow as influential leaders of the future.
Over the years, the Legacy Award has evolved to become more than just a moment of recognition; it is a longer-term commitment to nurturing the potential of these young leaders. We do this by offering tailored support, leadership development opportunities, and connection to a global network of peers.
We are continually reviewing how we recognise and support these outstanding young leaders in meaningful and sustainable ways.
The Legacy Award represents one of the highest accolades a young person can receive from The Diana Award. Past recipients have gone on to inspire others, influence change, and build movements across the world.

The Legacy Award Ceremony took place at the Science Museum, London in March 2024, with awards presented by HRH The Prince of Wales in The Diana Award’s 25th anniversary year, learn more about it here.

The Legacy Award is open to individuals who have previously received the Diana Award.
More information about the selection process and criteria will be shared closer to the next award cycle towards the end of December 2025.
Potential Legacy Award Recipients are identified through an internal review process, with final selections made by a dedicated judging panel. Those selected will be contacted directly by The Diana Award team.
Legacy Award Recipients have previously accessed a range of opportunities to connect, develop, and grow as young leaders. We are currently reflecting on how best to shape future support for those recognised with this honour.

When Maryam volunteered for the Al-Isharah deaf charity she learnt sign language to better understand the challenges deaf people face.
At just nine years old, Faith launched the charity Cuddles for Cancer after her aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her treatment, Faith’s aunt told her how she got very cold, so Faith made her a fleece blanket to provide comfort, warmth and love.
Jemima has dedicated countless hours of her time to improving the lives of young people with disabilities through her highly successful Stingrays Swimming Club.
