WHAT IS THE DIANA AWARD?

Established in memory of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, The Diana Award is the most prestigious accolade a young person aged 9-25 years can receive for their social action or humanitarian work. This is the longest running award for young people through a retrospective nomination process only. We believe this is special. Young people do not work towards the award, rather they demonstrate their suitability through their actions, without any expectation of reward.

THE LEGACY AWARD

In 2017 we launched The Legacy Award to celebrate Diana’s legacy in the 20th Anniversary year and inspire a new generation of young people to service their communities.

Taking place every two years, this unique accolade celebrates the achievements of 20 outstanding young leaders, visionaries and role models from across the world, who have demonstrated their ability to inspire and mobilise new generations to service their communities, as the late Princess Diana believed they could.

To be eligible for The Legacy Award 2023, you must first receive a Diana Award between 2022-2023. As well as receiving The Legacy Award at a prestigious ceremony in London, UK, recipients also have access to a unique Legacy Award Development Programme.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS_

HOW CAN I NOMINATE?

Young people can be nominated by an adult who works with them in a professional capacity, such as a teacher or youth worker. Full details on how to nominate can be found in the nomination centre.

WHAT ARE THE NOMINATION CRITERIA?

Nominators are asked to submit evidence against five key criteria, designed to demonstrate the nominee’s impact on society as well as their own service journey. These criteria are vision, social impact, youth-led, service journey and inspiring others.

WHAT DO DIANA AWARD RECIPIENTS RECEIVE?

All successful nominees will be celebrated via a virtual awards ceremony. Diana Award recipients will also receive a certificate via post.

Diana Award recipients based in the UK are also presented with an invitation to Althorp House, Princess Diana’s childhood home. These invitations are gifted to Diana Award recipients in kind by Princess Diana’s brother Earl Spencer, in recognition of their continuation of Diana’s legacy.

On receiving their Award, young people are given access to a unique development programme which aims to further increase their already proven capacity for innovation, leadership and social change, through access to resources, opportunities and training, both face to face and online.
