Eco-Network Global

Shamim is a climate change activist and young leader, who has worked on various projects to raise awareness, including education programmes and campaigns.

Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries in terms of climate change and natural disasters. Shamim is the founder of Eco-Network Global, one of the largest youth groups in multiple countries, which aims to ensure proper climate education through training programmes and awareness campaigns.

Through his ‘Climate School’ project, he has organised various workshops and training programmes that have provided climate education to more than 50,000 young people, both online & offline. He has registered "climate ambassadors" on his team, who use social and print media to spread their messages on climate change and the environment.

Representing young people, Shamim attends different climate conferences like COP, SB, and UNGA and spreads the stories of climate-vulnerable communities to ensure that youth voices are heard.

As well as advocacy, Shamim helps people build resilience to climate disasters. Due to the vulnerability of Bangladesh's coastal areas to cyclones and floods, he organised a fundraising event that benefited 350 high-risk households.

Another example of one of the projects run by Eco-Network Global is ‘Mission Green Bangladesh’, which focused on biodiversity conservation. They aimed to plant 50,000 trees by 2030 to commemorate Bangladesh's 50th anniversary of independence.

Shamim is an inspiring role model amongst other students in Bangladesh, as he continues to change the landscape for environmental issues.
