Fundraising for the Girl Child
Hiya saw from a young age the barriers and misogyny in society.
In 2017, aged 14, Hiya launched ‘Fundraising for the Girl Child’, applying social entrepreneurship to elevate, educate, and empower girls to close the educational and economic gender gap. Her work has seen the organisation fund the full education costs for 500 girls from rural India, run interactive webinars on girls’ empowerment to over 2,000 young people from over 40 countries, and offer online classes to refugees during the pandemic.
Hiya’s impact has extended online, with 120,000 young people seeing informative posts from ‘Fundraising for the Girl Child’s’ social media pages.
Hiya’s passion and commitment continues to inspire thousands of girls, with many starting their own initiatives to join her in breaking the glass ceiling for women and girls around the world."
