Christina is a highly accomplished student advocate from Jamaica who has been integral in the ongoing transformation of the education sector in the Caribbean.
Raised in a low income single-parent household in a small farming community, by a family that had received very limited access to formal schooling, it was her father who taught her the value of education and encouraged her to pursue her advocacy.
A student advocate from age 11, Christina’s achievements include successfully lobbying for student access to health insurance island-wide, reducing student deregistration by 99%, and an emergency fund to support the most disadvantaged students.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she achieved zero-rating of digital platforms for inclusive online learning, curated concessionary policies implemented across the Caribbean region and fundraised millions of Jamaican dollars in supplies to support homeless students and those unable to leave their campuses due to closed borders.
Christina has also helped to develop numerous national and regional programmes that benefit young people and is currently the lead youth contributor to multiple landmark legislations.
Her work has been recognised by the European Union, United Nations, and Commonwealth Secretariat, where she has been invited to share and or implement best practices worldwide.
Christina has a passion for policy and partnerships, which she leverages to drive positive change for people and for the planet.
