The Writing Squad

Hannah lives with probable Mitochondrial Encephalopathy, which is a terminal illness. Her work with ‘Together for Short Lives’ means she has spoken in parliament, medical conferences, and various NHS collaborations about her personal experiences of life-limiting illness.

Hannah runs a YouTube channel demystifying illness and medical taboos, speaking frankly about the day-to-day realities of hospice care, living with a serious illness, and death. Hannah is an accomplished writer, and has written for Grazia, Teen Vogue, and Hospice UK among others.

Hannah’s literary accolades include a ‘Northern Writer’s Award’ and she has published a number of pamphlets and books. Hannah runs a fortnightly virtual writing space for ‘The Writing Squad’ which has helped combat feelings of isolation during the pandemic. She has also supported literary organisations which offer residential writing courses, online workshops and in person readings to make them accessible to those with disabilities.

Hannah is a powerful advocate for those with terminal illnesses and a role model to other young people.
