Twelve outstanding young people, from across the world, take centre stage for The Diana Award’s Change_Makers campaign to kick-off their 20th anniversary year and drive a new wave of nominations for award given out in memory of Princess Diana.
The Diana Award is the most prestigious accolade a young person can receive for their social action or humanitarian work. The youth charity benefits from the support of The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex.
The launch of the campaign comes as new Survation research, commissioned by The Diana Award, reveals over a third of young people and adults say that society has negative view of young people. On the contrary 86% of young people say that it’s important for them to have a positive impact on society with over half (59%) volunteering and (69%) donating money over the past year.
All the young people leading the campaign – who come from the UK, USA, Canada, India and UAE – challenge negative stereotypes young people are often labelled with.
“The stories of the twelve young people leading this campaign demonstrate that young people are a driving force for good and have incredible power to create change. This is reinforced by new research revealing that, despite negative perception, the vast majority of young people want to make a positive impact on society. We urge communities from across the globe to visit our website and tell us about young people who deserve to be recognised with The Diana Award.”

The Change_Maker campaign has been generously supported by British Airways as part of their commitment to have a positive impact in local communities, in particular through supporting children and young people living challenging lives in the UK and overseas.
Holly Gray, British Airways’ Community Investment Manager, says:
“We are delighted to partner with The Diana Award as they kick off their 20th anniversary year and continue their work in recognising and inspiring the next generation of young leaders. We are proud to support projects and individuals who make a positive, lasting impact in their communities and are very much looking forward to welcoming the deserving winners on board as they travel to London for the awards ceremony.”
The campaign is the second major project that brand design agency Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR) has supported The Diana Award on after a major brand identity update in 2017.
“Working with The Diana Award to champion the incredible young people they support was a natural next step in our relationship with the organisation. The Change_Makers campaign puts those individuals centre stage, allowing them to tell their stories and demonstrate the truly positive impact they are having on society, while encouraging others to follow in their footsteps.”
James Nixon, Managing Director, Jones Knowles Ritchie
