DIANA AWARD CHAIR OF TRUSTEES
AWARDED CBE IN QUEENS BIRTHDAY HONOURS
FOR SERVICES TO YOUNG PEOPLE
News Release: 6 July 2017
The Diana Award warmly congratulates its Chair of Trustees Wayne Bulpitt who has been awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list. The award was made in recognition of his services to young people.
Wayne is a passionate supporter of social entrepreneurship, especially supporting and developing young people. In 2009 he became the UK’s first Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association with the responsibility for leading the UK movements 550,000 members. He introduced the alternative promise, welcoming all young people regardless of their faiths or religious beliefs and ensured that young people were at the centre of its leadership.
Expressing his delight at having been recognised for his work, Wayne said “It is both a privilege and honour to be recognised in this way for something I have enjoyed so much. It is also humbling as I have been fortunate to see and work with so very many amazing people across the UK and further afield who give so much themselves to make a real difference to the lives of young people”.
Tessy Ojo, Chief Executive, The Diana Award says:
“On behalf of The Diana Award, I wholeheartedly congratulate Wayne Bulpitt. He is an absolute credit to The Diana Award and, like us, believes in the power young people have to change the lives of those around them.”
The Diana Award was set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, and her belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. It is committed to fostering, inspiring and developing positive change in the lives of young people through practical social action. Today The Diana Award has the support of both her sons The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
