‘Just Canoe It’ Challenge has raised over £30K supported by matched funding from Barclays for The Diana Award’s Mentoring Programme with vulnerable pre-GCSE teens.

Etienne Stott MBE, Olympic Champion in Canoe Slalom with Ian Tetsill, Managing Director Global Lending Group Debt Finance at Barclays.

The Diana Award’s Mentoring Programme recognises the role that mentoring has to play in breaking down the barriers to social mobility. The programme pairs volunteer mentors from the world of work with young people in years 8, 9 & 10 to improve post-secondary work readiness, instil active citizenship and build character and resilience. Together the mentors work with their mentees to give them an insight into the world of work, career skills training and support them to develop and deliver a community social action.

“We are delighted to have supported the work of the Diana Award once again. We never cease to be amazed by achievements of the young people that take part in the various programmes. It’s an honour to be involved; helping them build the skills, confidence and belief needed for their career journeys ahead.”
