Young Decision Makers at the Heart of the Children’s Commissioner

Since the Summer of 2010, the Diana Award has managed the Children’s Commissioners’s Advisory Group, Amplify. Find out how they got on at their previous meeting.

We had a brilliant time with the Children’s Commissioner’s children and young people’s advisory group, Amplify, last month – not even winter weather could stop these young people coming from across England to the capital to meet and work with us. The day flew by, starting with a discussion about the progress of their secure online network we are setting up to enable the group to share their views with us safely, without always meeting face to face.

We then explored the potential for smaller working groups from Amplify to help us with specific projects of interest to them in the OCC 2012-13 Business Plan. After lunch we had a stimulating discussion on child poverty, exploring their understanding and perceptions, leading on to how they can help shape projects around this issue.

It was a great day and even though the snow did fall as people made their way home, everyone completed their journeys safely.
