We wanted to say a huge thank you to Team Barclays, Award Holders Gemma, Nicole and Roper and Maggie Turner OBE for completing Power Peaks – both mountains and buildings – and raising much needed funds for the Diana Award. To date the Power Peaks has raised £58,00 for the Diana Award and Together for Short Lives. It was an amazing challenge, all completed in 27 hours which was a huge achievement!
One team took on the national three peaks challenge; climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mt. Snowdon in just 24 hours. The Diana Award staff loved being kept up to date with the activities (whilst we sat in our nice warm offices). They worked hard and motivated one another to overcome aching legs, snow, and horizontal rain… they came out with new friendships, a sense of personal achievement and satisfaction at raising a huge sum for charity.
The London Team tackled three of London’s tallest buildings, climbing up over 100 floors in total and were awarded with panoramic views of London. Personal Best records were smashed as the team ran up the first 30+ floors in just 8 minutes. Phew!
Their support, enthusiasm, stamina and determination in making Power Peaks happen, will mean that more young people will be recognised and celebrated for changing and improving communities.
A big thank you to everyone who sponsored this fantastic team, we are so very grateful to everyone involved. You can still sponsor the team here.
