Celebrating Scottish Award Holders
In October, we travelled up to Scotland to present 57 inspirational young people with their Diana Award at our award ceremony at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
Diana Award Patron, Lord McConnell and Humza Yousaf MSP hosted and presented awards at the event.
17 year old Jayne Copeland from Wishaw, was presented with the Diana Courageous Citizen award. Two years ago Jayne was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma and during treatment she decided she wanted to use her spare time to help others in her local community. Jayne volunteers in both the local nursing home and in the children’s ward in Wishaw General Hospital. She also organised a 6 hour sponsored silence to raise over £600 for charity.
Jayne gave a speech at the award ceremony and shared her thoughts on receiving the award, Jayne said: “I was really surprised when I was told I was going to receive the Diana Award. It is a massive achievement to receive the award. It’s fabulous that so many other young people who work to support others, are receiving the award and not conforming to negative stereotypes about young people.”
Congratulations to all the new Award Holders and thanks to all those that joined us. Welcome to the Diana Award!
