I thought that I wouldn’t get anywhere in life and be a huge disappointment but when… My grades were appalling, I was behind on near enough all my school work and The Mentoring Programme helped me to get back on track.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS_

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

Our Mentoring Programme runs over a six month period to support local year 8 – 10 students in the LEP regions of Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham York and London.

We pair young people with volunteers from the world of work who can support them to implement a campaign or social action project, as well as give them an insight into the business world and careers skills training.

The mentoring occurs fortnightly and is face-to-face within 12 group sessions, facilitated by Diana Award youth facilitators.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE DIANA AWARD MENTORING PROGRAMME?

The Diana Award Mentoring Programme combines the skills of mentors from the world of work and trained Diana Award Youth Facilitators. Together they guide a group of young people (years 8-10) through bi-weekly sessions over a 6 month period designed to give mentees access to opportunities, vital skills training and embarking upon a journey of social action.

The programme has 3 main aims:

  • To instil active citizenship through youth led social action and volunteering
  • To improve post-secondary work-place readiness through careers and employability training
  • Develop character and ‘mental toughness’
  • WHAT IS THE FINANCIAL COMMITMENT?

£0 the programme is free of charge thanks for corporate funding and our partnership with The Careers and Enterprise Company.
