Sky news report on rise of cyber-bullying

Maggie Turner and Award Holder Alex Holmes share their views on the rise in cyber-bullying. The research, Young People’s voices on Cyber-bullying, was commissioned by the Diana Award, with the support of the Children’s Research Centre, Open University.

Anti-Bullying Hero on ITV News

13 year old Adam Forest, received the Diana Anti-Champion award for anti-bullying activities in his school. Adam was nominated by The New School at West Heath for volunteering as a peer mentor and working with students, parents and local community police officers to re-write and implement the school anti-bullying policy. Adam travelled to London to receive the award at our national award ceremony at Barclays in Canary Wharf.

ITV Meridian News met Adam and interviewed Principal Ms. Wells.

It was a pleasure to interview Adam who seemed a bit phased by the camera at first but turned out to be a complete natural when he was interviewed! It’s clear that he has a real passion for helping his classmates and most definitely deserved to win the Diana Award. His friends were the first to say how Adam helped them to settle in to their new school and we were particularly impressed by the way he helped other pupils in class and taught one of his friends to play the drums. Adam was also really patient with us when we had to film him drawing graphs and playing Jenga! Thanks for letting us come to the school and well done again on the award.

Diana Award on ITV’s Lorraine

Diana Award for foster boy who helps deaf children

Teen raises £15,000 for charity

Diana Award Holder, 16 year old Cameron was a guest speaker at the Diana Award Ceremony. The Wigan Observer spoke to him about sharing his inspirational story with other Award Holders. Cameron raised over £15,000 for charity following time spent in a wheelchair after a skiing accident, read his story below.

Lord McConnell of Glenscorrodale becomes Patron

Scotland’s longest serving First Minister, Jack McConnell MSP has joined the Prime Minister David Cameron as one of four patrons for the Diana Award.

Lord McConnell, who was appointed a peer in June 2010, accepted his new role during a visit to Menzies Distribution Centre in Linwood in Scotland on Friday 25^th February, where he met with previous award winners. Menzies is the Diana Award’s new corporate partner in Scotland.

Fred met the Prime Minister, the new Patron of the Diana Award, at an event at Downing Street.

Rebecca, 18 from Northumberland won the Inter-regional Fundraising Challenge.
