Binda’s Story

"The one door i chose to walk through has opened a hundred others"

When Binda Bhudia was presented with her Diana Award, she was as shocked as she was delighted that her work on behalf of her school and community was being recognised in such a prestigious way. “I was over the moon when my teacher announced my name and presented me with my Award in front of my peers,” she recalls.

Binda received her Award for the time and devotion she had put into ‘Connect’, a successful anti-bullying scheme, and for working with the school council to raise money for charities such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Tsunami Appeal.

Receiving a Diana Award inspired Binda to work even harder for other people. She has since been an active Diana Ambassador and has had fantastic opportunities such as taking part in the Annual Award Holders’ Conference and being invited for lunch with Princes William and Harry. As Binda herself puts it: “The Diana Award has allowed me to grow and has encouraged me to do so much more than I ever thought I could.”
