HOW WE DO IT_

The Diana Award Mentoring Programme pairs volunteer mentors with disengaged young people to give them an insight into the world of work and career skills training. Together with our Youth Facilitators, the mentors guide a group of young people (aged 12-15) through fortnightly group sessions over a six month period.

Our programme places a strong emphasis on social action; mentors and mentees work together to develop a campaign around a social issue that affects their community. This two pronged approach prepares the young people for their post-secondary future whilst also instilling a sense of active citizenship.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE DIANA AWARD MENTORING PROGRAMME?

The Diana Award Mentoring Programme combines the skills of mentors from the world of work and trained Diana Award Youth Facilitators. Together they guide a group of young people (years 8-10) through bi-weekly sessions over a 6 month period designed to give mentees access to opportunities, vital skills training and embarking upon a journey of social action.

The programme has 3 main aims:

  • To instil active citizenship through youth led social action and volunteering
  • To improve post-secondary work-place readiness through careers and employability training
  • Develop character and ‘mental toughness’
  • WHAT IS THE FINANCIAL COMMITMENT?

£0 the programme is free of charge thanks for corporate funding and our partnership with The Careers and Enterprise Company.
